Adoptions and single parent situations are not the norm, but the exception, and often result because of circumstances out of the parent&#039;s control.  It is certainly not always in the best interest of the child, if one or both his or her parents die.  Since you so eloquently compared these situations with single sex relationships (per definition they are not marriages) I put it to you that they too are not in the best interest of children.  So to get back to my original point, you and the rest of the compost pumps can go to hell.</description>

One other point you could add relates to the &quot;safe environment for the nurturing of those children&quot; &#039;argument&#039;. What about the many children that get abused emotionally and/or physically by their own (heterosexual) parents? Having a parent of each sex is no guarantee the child will be brought up in a positive environment and that both parents will provide &quot;appropriate gender roles&quot; (whatever that is).</description>
